Plarn Beach Bag!!!

Ok, I know it's been awhile...but shit happens.

So...anyway, I have crocheted this beach bag out of plarn. For those of you going "What the hell is plarn?!", plarn is a type of "yarn" made out of plastic bags. I know far too many of you have a ton of plastic bags lying around the house takin up all kinds of space! Why not do something constructive with all of those bags? It's so much better than just tossing them out, after all, I'm trying to save the planet, so help me out a little! I really don't feel like going into the instructions on how exactly you make the plarn, so I'll just post the link HERE!

After I made some plarn, I got to crocheting, and decided that since I live 2 blocks from the beach, I was in need of a beach bag! But you can make purses, grocery bags, baskets, I've even seen hats!

I'm not gonna post a tutorial for this bag, because I didn't really write one, mostly I winged it. But I think it turned out pretty freakin sweet! See for yourself!

Thanks guys for checkin it out! I'll see ya around!

Rag Rug!!!

Soo, I completed one project...at least for now, I think I will go back later and add to it, but we'll just call it good for now. It's a rag rug made out of an old sheet. I had this california king size red fitted sheet on my bed, and it ended up with a MASSIVE hole in it from my dogs...go figure. I didn't wanna throw it out, what good is it then? So I decided that I would turn the sheet into "yarn" and crochet a rug.

First I cut all of the elastic off the edge and then ripped the corner seams so I had one oddly shaped rectangle. Then I made little cuts every inch and tore the sheet into big ole strips. I joined the strips together and ended up with a giant ball, that looks like this....

I grabbed a size N (9mm) crochet hook and got to work. And a few hours later I have this handy dandy little rug. Eventually I'll be adding a border to it...probably in cream if I can find a cheap cream sheet at the Goodwill or something.

Thanks for checkin in, hope you enjoyed it!!

Hello World!

Ok, so....obviously this is my first post.

I should probably give you an idea of what I'm all about...I work at Michael's Arts and Crafts, and that's both awesome and dangerous at the same time. I love to craft. I am always trying to find new ways to upcycle old crap I have lying around. Why throw something out when you can turn it into something fabulous, or purposeful?

I've been procrastinating for a while about starting up my blog, so here I am, finally doing it. I have a few projects going on right now and as soon as I finish them I will be posting pix, and possibly some tutorials. And eventually I get my ass in gear and post some of the stuff I have already done. So, for now, I will just have to work my little hands off. So, thanks for checkin in!
Love. Peace. DIY.
